Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange issued a strong warning to the state government on Tuesday, stating that there would be serious consequences if elections proceed without addressing the Maratha community's reservation demand. Jarange announced a large gathering at Narayangadh in Beed district during the upcoming Dasara festival and encouraged Marathas to participate in high numbers. Emphasizing that he will not compromise on any demands, including the withdrawal of criminal cases against community members across the state, Jarange stated, "If the state government continues to overlook the Maratha community's demands, it will face repercussions in the upcoming elections. It will regret contesting elections if assembly election dates are announced without a favorable decision on Maratha reservation." Urging Maratha community members to stand united and unwavering in their quest for reservation, he added, "This is not just about reservation; it's about respect and equality for the Marathas, who are encountering a significant crisis at the grassroots level." Jarange highlighted that some individuals within the ruling party were intentionally obstructing progress by citing legal and administrative obstacles, refusing to recognize the entire Maratha community as Kunbis and provide reservation separate from the existing OBC quota. Meanwhile, various political parties, including the ruling coalition, have not taken a clear stance on the matter. Despite Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's government promising to address the issue, progress has been slow, leading to growing dissatisfaction within the community.
